DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES: |
|
Organizational Setting: Through its Country Offices, or FAO Representations, FAO assists governments to develop policies, programmes and projects to address hunger, food security and malnutrition, and provides technical support for the sustainable development of their agricultural, livestock, animal health, and irrigation and forestry sectors as well as emergency preparedness and response to conflict and natural affected events. The activities of the FAO Representation include design and implementation of country-tailored field programmes, liaison with local donor representatives and active public awareness raising and outreach activities related to the mandate of FAO.
FAO assistance in Afghanistan achieves its objectives through capacity development and direct project implementation in four specific areas of FAO’s technical expertise:
Project Background: The FSAC is co-led by World Food Program (WFP) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), with a Non-governmental Organization as co-chair. http://fscluster.org/afghanistan. Over 172 partner organizations country-wide are active in the FSAC, including: 72 international NGOs, 68 national NGOs, 3 Red Cross/Crescent related organizations, 6 private and research institutions, 9 state-level line ministries, 15 UN agencies and 5 donors.
FSAC Perform 6 core functions namely;
Purpose of this vacancy announcement: FAO is looking for qualified national staff to support the work of the FAO – Food Security and Agriculture Cluster. The post is located in FAO Representation, MAIL compound, Kabul - Afghanistan.
Key Result: The project activities are implemented successfully, timely and effectively in conformity with the objectives of the project.
Key Objectives: Main objective of this position is to provide full support on programme related functions, administrative, financial and project operational matters to ensure the project activities are implemented successfully, timely and effectively as per the project plan and conform to the objectives of the project.
Reporting Lines / Supervision Received/Exercised: Under the overall supervision of the FAO Representative in Afghanistan, with direct supervision of FSAC Coordinator and in close consultation with the relevant units (Administrative and Programme Unit) in FAO Representation in Afghanistan, the incumbent will be responsible for the timely and effective follow-up of project administrative and operational activities.
