Increase of Sorghum and Sesame; Three to four Tons of Sorghum and Sesame Oil is produced daily in Faryab
The Directorate of Agriculture, irrigation and Livestock of Faryab Province says “With increasing of sorghum and sesame yields, up to three to four tons of oil plants will be marketed daily in Faryab this year.”
But, the Officials says that the processing capacity of sesame and sorghum procesing machines is near to 10 tons per day, yet these machines produce only three to four tons of sesame and sorghum oil per day according to market’s needs.
Whereas, the Statistics of the Ministry of Agriculture shows that last year in Faryab province, 1,640 hectares of sesame land and 2,470 hectares of Sorghum land were cultivated, and 1,968 tons of sesame and 1,915 tons of sorghum were cultivated respectively.
However, officials of Faryab Agriculture’s Directorate are reporting an increase in the number of cultivations in the province.
Noor Ahmad Noor, Faryab’s director of agriculture, says, "This year, more than 5,000 tons of sorghum and sesame have been harvested, including 2,700 tons of sesame and about 2,600 tons of sorghum, which is an increase of about 10% compared to last year."
"This year, more than 2,740 hectares of land were cultivated with sorghum and about 2,600 hectares were planted with sesame in the province.
