Deputy MAIL’s Participation in FAO Meeting

Shirshah Amiri, deputy minister of agriculture and livestock of the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock (MAIL), participated in the forty-second meeting of Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations and donor countries via video conference.
Mr. Amiri at the meeting which was held to discuss how to provide food said,” 33% of Afghans are suffering from lack of having food, 40% of children who are under age of five suffering from malnutrition and 55% live below the poverty line.”
Shirshah Amiri, expressing satisfaction with the assistance and activities of (FAO) in Afghanistan in field of agriculture in Afghanistan, said that for fighting the poverty and malnutrition, Afghanistan needs further assistance of Food Agriculture Organization in fields of irrigation, agriculture and Horticulture, livestock and construction of medical plant processing centers.
