10.685 new Agricultural projects exploited

The Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock (MAIL) during "Agriculture’s Week", exploited 10,685 potatoes, onions and zero energy cold- storages for maintaining pomegranate in thirty-four provinces. Distribution of hundreds of solar-powered dryers for fresh fruits and vegetables are also included in this project.
Akbar Rostami, director of information & spokesperson of MAIL, says, “The construction of these new projects are carried out through Agricultural product’s management project at a cost of 5 billion 615 million 117 thousand 788 AFN from MAIL’s budget in 34 provinces, and got ready to be utilized.”
Mr. Rostami said that 90 percent of the cost has been provided by the Ministry of Agriculture and the other 10 percent by the farmers.
He further stated that with launching of these new projects, in addition to reducing imports, increasing exports, better processing of agricultural products, and preventing the spoilage of agricultural products, 250,000 job opportunities have been created.
Mr. Rostami stressed that the completion of these projects will have important effects on food security, increasing government revenues and growth of the peasant economy.
