Introducing New Plants and Constructing 26 Demonstration Farms of Tilly Plants in Badghis
Hoot 12: March 2, 2021
The Directorate of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock of Badghis Province, in order to boost the cultivation and increase the production of tilapia in the province, is building 26 tiller demonstration farms. These show farms, which include sorghum, maple, and chamomile and sesame plants, each built on half an acre of irrigated land.
The main aim of building these show farms is to promote industrial plants as well as to introduce new plants, such as sorghum and maple, which farmers have not been familiar yet.
By building these show farms, in addition to the peasants who benefit, other peasants will learn how to cultivate them.
These farms are being built while 95 farmers who are already interested in planting and harvesting tulips in training programs have already learned new skills in this field from the Department of Agriculture.
Tilly plants have a long history of cultivation in Badghis, and the oil produced from these plants is traditionally processed.
The mentioned directorate intends to strengthen the production and processing industry of these valuable plants in the province by launching and implementing regular extension and incentive programs.
