Faryab Grapes Yields Increase by nearly 10 Percent: This year's harvest is more than 68,000 Tons

Faryab Agriculture Department reports a nearly 10 percent increase in Grape Yields in the province.
Abdul Kabir Farzam the Director of Faryab's Agriculture said that there are a total of about 15,545 Hectares of Vineyards in Faryab, and according to our predictions about 68,985 Tons of Grapes will be harvested.
Last year, about 63,000 Metric Tons of Grapes were harvested from Faryab province.
Faryab grapes, especially Qaisar, Almar, Maimana, Khwaja Sabzpoosh and Shirin Tagab Grapes are very famous and are sold in the markets of the Northern provinces even to Kabul at a higher price than the Grapes of other provinces.
Abdul Kabir Farzam, Faryab's Director of Agriculture said about the increase of Grape Yields. This year, because the weather was good for Horticulture, the guidance provided by our staff to increase production and use new technologies, Yields have been increased significantly, and we hope to see further increases in the coming years.
Bazgul is a farmer in Chaghta village of Dawlatabad district of Faryab province said that the most popular Grape is white Raisins, which are of high quality and are used to make shady Raisins. Now we sell Garlic for 250 Afghanis in the Local Market, and when we turn it into Raisins, each Garlic sells for between 700 Afghanis and 1,000 Afghanis.
In Faryab province, there are Grape Vineyards in Qaisar, Almar, Khwaja Sabzposh, Shirinatgab, Pashtoon Kot, Dolatabad and Faryab districts of Maimana district, most of which are located in Qaisar and Shirin Tagab districts.
According to the farmers of Faryab province, black Raisins of Qaisar district of Faryab province have a special quality and reputation, which has many buyers, both fresh and low.
Gardeners in the province are optimistic about the construction of these Raisin Houses saying that in previous years their Grapes would rot due to the lack of Raisin houses, but this year, by building these Raisin Houses, their problems will be solved to some extent.
Ismail, a farmer in Baluch village, Pashtun Kot district, said: Before, because we did not have a Raisin House, we had to either sell our Grapes at a low price or they would rot. Thank God that this year a Raisin House will be built for us through Agriculture, and we can produce standard Raisins and have a good income.
The services provided by the Ministry of Agriculture to Gardeners and Grape Growers are ongoing. As the head of Faryab Agriculture says, in recent years, more than 730 Hectares of new Vineyards in Faryab province have been built by the Ministry of Agriculture and we plan to increase the area of Vineyards to 20,000 Hectares to promote more Grapes in Faryab and so on.

"So far, 130 Raisins Houses have been built for Gardeners through the Ministry of Agriculture and partner institutions, which are effective in producing Raisins in Faryab province, said Abdul Kabir Farzam, Faryab's Director of Agriculture. Fortunately, with the start of the Agricultural Management project this year, 300 new Raisins will be built in the districts with the highest Grape production, and the needs of Faryab Grape Growers will be largely met.
He added that Grapes are one of the major Agricultural products of Afghanistan and grow and produce in most provinces of the country.
This year, the Ministry of Agriculture is building thousands of Raisins in Grape-producing provinces as part of a Crop Management Plan; Among these, the work of a large number of these Raisin Houses have been completed and the process of turning Grapes into Raisins is underway by Gardeners.
