The Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock (MAIL) is rehabilitating 536 irrigation networks and canals this year.
230 various irrigation networks in Kabul, Logar, Bamyan, Daikundi, Ghor, Herat, Kunar, Paktia, Nangarhar, Parwan, Kapisa, Baghlan, Samangan, Balkh, Sar-e-Pul, Laghman, Farah and Badghis provinces are going to be rehabilitated, construction work of them is 45 percent complete.
Meanwhile, it is rehabilitating 306 secondary and tertiary secondary canals in Kunduz, Takhar and Badakhshan provinces and four public irrigation canals in Takhar, Badakhshan and Jawzjan provinces, with 42% progress.
MAIL has started the construction, rehabilitation and reconstruction of hundreds of irrigation, drainage, retaining walls, gabion buildings, water storage and drip irrigation systems this year in order to effectively manage water.
