Inauguration of Kamal Khan Dam, a new Promise for Upgrading Agricultural Products
Kamal Khan Dam which is located in Nimroz province, after years of waiting, was officially inaugurated on Wednesday, April 4 March (24) by President Mohammad Ashraf-Ghani and a number of other cabinet members.
President Ghani, who had taken off to Nimroz province at head of a high-ranking government delegation to inaugurate the dam, attended a grand ceremony which was attended by government officials, elders and influential people of Nimroz province in Chahar Burjak district, and shared his speech.
During his speech, the President thanked the people for their efforts and cooperation, especially the engineers, staff and security and defense forces in building and protecting the Kamal Khan Dam, and said that he thanked God that there was water around us.
The president at the ceremony said, “Kamal Khan Dam is a water dam in form, but it is a symbol of the people's national will to revive history, adding that Kamal Khan Dam is a tool, but its main goal is to revive free and prosperous Nimroz.”
He further said that our people is controlling the water of Helmand Today. And priority is given to the local people in distributing the Kamal Khan dam.
At the end of his speech, the President insisted on the management of wind and solar electricity and said that our water should be managed in the most effective way and this efficiency should be increased tens of times and an agricultural and irrigation research center should be established next to Kamal Khan Dam.
Meanwhile, Khan Mohammad Takal, Director of National Water Regulatory Authority, thanked the president for his determination and struggle, saying that the period of silence for water management was over and Afghanistan's waters were being restrained.
Informing about the capacity of Kamal Khan Dam and its related canals, He said that with inaugurating of Kamal Khan Dam, the long-standing dream of Afghans was fulfilled. He assured all Afghans that large-scale water projects would be implemented on time and of better quality, and that these projects would be implemented throughout the country. He added that another 44 water projects will be implemented in a balanced way in a number of provinces this year.
Simultaneously with the opening ceremony of Kamal Khan Dam, the Directorate of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock of Nimroz Province held an agricultural exhibition on occasion of the opening of this dam and the national celebration of the peasant.
After the inauguration of the Kamal Khan Dam, the President and his entourage visited the agricultural fair set up by the Nimroz Agriculture Directorate.
In the agricultural exhibition of Nimroz province agriculture department, different types of agricultural and livestock products, agricultural machinery and Nimroz handicrafts were showcased.
Kamal Khan Dam was utilized after hundreds of years of waiting. With exploitation of this dam, more than 3,000 hectares of agricultural land will be cultivated and at noon it will regain its place in the Asian grain cage in the Middle East. With the construction of Kamal Khan Dam, agricultural products will increase.
Simultaneously with the inauguration ceremony of Kamal Khan Dam, the Directorate of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock of Nimroz Province held an agricultural exhibition on occasion of Peasants' Celebration and the inauguration of Kamal Khan Dam.
Kamal Khan Dam was officially inaugurated yesterday in the presence of the President and Vice Presidents, as well as a number of other cabinet members.
President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani and other cabinet members, hoping for a prosperous Afghanistan, first planted saplings in Kamal Khan Dam area and then inaugurated the dam.
After the inauguration of the Kamal Khan Dam, the President and his entourage visited the agricultural fair set up by the Nimroz Agriculture Department.
Different types of agricultural and livestock products, agricultural machinery and handicrafts of Nimroz were exhibited in the agricultural exhibition of Nimroz Agriculture Directorate.
Kamal Khan Dam was put back into operation after 700 years of waiting. With the operation of this dam, more than 174 thousand hectares of agricultural land will be cultivated and at noon, it will regain its place in the grain of Asia in the Middle East.
With the construction of Kamal Khan Dam, the production of agricultural products will increase.
