Durrani Congratulates Access to Information Day

UNESCO has marked 28 September as the “International Day for Universal Access to Information” (IDUAI), for which Afghanistan law on access to information has scored 139 to be ranked first worldwide.

We (the Ministry of Agriculture) are making every effort to better comply with this law and to give all citizens access to their desired information, and to make it easier for citizens to access information.

Creating an electronic archive for better documentation and access to documents, creating a public relations office to provide quick customer service, developing an information bank for online audience, launching more than 14 online information systems to facilitate access to new information, identify and introduce information officers for the first time in all secondary institutions (provincial directorates in 34 provinces) providing timely response to all information requests, compliance with website publishing law, providing information without restriction to citizens , are among the works which has been done in the Ministry of Agriculture in this regard.

The above-mentioned activities, in line with the clear implementation of the Law on Access to Information, made it possible for the Ministry of Agriculture to be ranked first in the information sharing sector this year among all budgetary units.

We believe that much work still needs to be done to better enforce the law on access to information and to respect and facilitate citizens' realization of this right.

The process of enriching the Ministry of Agriculture's electronic archive continues at full speed.
