Hashmatullah Ghafouri, deputy minister for irrigation and natural resources of the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock (MAIL), during a visit to Herat province, in presence of Herat Governor Sayed Wahid Qatali, inaugurated a standard cold-storage in Injil district of the province.
The above-mentioned cold-storage with an area of eight hundred square meters was built by “Aziz- Zahoor” private company.
Mr. Ghafoori at inauguration ceremony of this cold-storage said,” Construction of cold-storages by private sector is an important step in supporting and helping gardeners," adding the private sector must work with the government because the government alone cannot meet the needs of the peasants, I hope other traders will pay attention to this as well."
This cold-storage which has been built at 415,000 $ has a storage capacity of 1,800 metric tons of fresh fruit. Some fresh fruits from the center of Herat province and Injil district will be maintained out there.
MAIL has also launched an extensive program to build new zero-energy cold- storages since last year, and has built hundreds of zero-energy cold- storage to store fresh fruits and prevent spoilage in different parts of the country.
