Production of nearly 900,000 tons of potatoes in the country

About 855,395 metric tons of potatoes were harvested from all farms of Afghanistan Last year. Most potato fields are located in Bamyan, Maidan-Wardak, Logar, Ghor, Herat, Farah, Baghlan, Balkh, Faryab, Jawzjan, Nangarhar and Kunduz provinces. The area under potato cultivation reached 53,674 hectares last year.
Potatoes are those vegetables which have numerous customers to consume. As a result of the efforts of experts and farmers, a great difference has been unveiled compared to the past in quantity, price and quality of potatoes. Currently, a potato garlic is sold for 150 to 200 AFN in Kabul market. Thousands of zero-energy cold storages have been constructed by the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock (MAIL) to store potatoes in different provinces so that farmers can use them and change their prices and control market prices.
