MAIL Minister’s insistence to immediately constrain fires in Nurgram forests of Nuristan

Dr. Anwarul Haq Ahady, minister of agriculture, irrigation and livestock (MAIL), has instructed the relevant directorates of the Ministry and directorate of Agriculture of Nuristan Province to take immediate action to constrain fires in forests of Nurgram district of the province.
Today, once again officials of the ministry were ordered by Mr. Ahady to take urgent action to constrain the fire and send the necessary equipment to the area.
Abdul Wahab Nasimi, provincial director of the mentioned province said,” as a result of an armed entanglement between two tribes in Nurgram district, the forests of Dara-e-Sham district of the district had stoked fire.”
He added that the fire was spreading to the forests of the Korgul-valley. According to him, about 174 hectares of forest have been burned so far. The forests of this region include Pine, oak and pinups trees.
Mr. Nasimi further said that based on MAIL’s order, technical equipment and facilities have been sent to the area by General Directorate of Natural Resources of the Ministry to control the fire and efforts are underway to control the fire as soon as possible.
Abdul Wahab Nasimi, director of agriculture in Nuristan province, said the intensity of the fire was high in some areas and lower in some others.
The fire has been burning for four days in forests of Nurgram district of Nuristan province, the fire is currently being reduced and efforts are underway to contain it.
