Payenda Mohammad, a farmer in the Shohada district of Badakhshan province said the use of mechanized bean cultivation had increased his Yields by 45 percent, and reduced water consumption in Agriculture.
Payanda Mohammad has been cultivating Beans and other Vegetables for eight years.
Previously, he used to use the Traditional Cultivation Method, and his Yields was being decreased and his water consumption increased every Year. But this year, the Ministry of Agriculture built a Bean Demonstration Farm for him through the Pan Amu Seas Sector Project (PARBSP). Payanda Mohammad obtained about 1,000 Kilograms of Beans from two Acres of land Last Year, but this year, by building a Show Farm, he obtained 1,450 Kilograms of Beans from two Acres of land. It is noteworthy that the construction of this Demonstration Farm was funded by the Asian Development Bank and implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock.
The Pan Amu Sea Sectoral Project has trained about 300 Farming men and women in land leveling skills, Shrub cultivation, Weeding, Watering and Harvesting Techniques.
Fahima Akbari is one of the participants in this training program in Shohada district. She says that we used to grow Beans in Old-Fashioned way in our backyards and farms, but the Yield and quality were not very good. Because, we did not learn the basic Methods of Weeding, watering and harvesting our Crops, and that is why we did not get good results. With these trainings, we learned all the new Methods of Weeding, Watering, Fertilizing and Harvesting in a standard way.
It should be said that by cultivating new Methods, including Show farms, more and better quality Yields are obtained compared to Traditional Methods.
