Chickpea Yields have been increased in Badghis

Officials of Badghis Agriculture Directorate said that this year, chickpea harvest has increased in the province significantly compared to last year due to the increase in cultivated area.
"This year, 2,935 hectares of land were planted with chickpeas in Badghis, of which about 7,096 tons were harvested," said Abdul Tawab Tayeb, director of agriculture, irrigation and livestock in Badghis province.
Mr. Tayeb adds, "Last year, due to the damage suffered by the peasants due to the drought, our farmers were less able to grow chickpeas, so less area was planted with chickpeas and the yield was low, but this year, fortunately due to the favorable weather and "Technical cooperation from the province's agriculture directorate increased more chickpea fields and increased chickpea yields."
Meanwhile, according to statistics and information from the Ministry of Agriculture MAIL 1,999 hectares of land were planted with peas in Badghis province last year, of which 4,997 tons were harvested.
This figure shows 936 hectares of increase in the cultivation area and an increase of 2,099 metric tons in the yield of this crop compared to 1398.
In all districts of Badghis province, chickpeas are grown locally, which is mostly used by local varieties of chickpeas in this province.
Annually, a significant amount of peas from this province is exported to other provinces.
