Reporting meeting held between nine member states of the Convention on Biological Diversity

Online reporting meeting on the progress of Biodiversity was launched among representatives from nine South Asian countries, including Afghanistan, Iran, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Maldives and India.
The Target Convention on Biological Diversity is one of the leading programs of the Convention on Biological Diversity, which aims to preserve and boost the diversity of life at the level of member states and commits these countries to its implementation.
Based on the Target 1I, all member states of the convention are required to identify and formally declare at least 17% of their Soil area as protected areas between 2010 and the end of 2020.
Afghanistan has gotten the membership of the Convention in 1992 and has applied numerous plans and programs to preserve and improve Biodiversity across the country.
In this meeting, Mohammad Rafi Qazizada, General Director of Natural Resources, assured the commitments of the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan to implement the objectives of the Convention on Biological Diversity and said, that Afghanistan to achieve the objectives of the Convention on Biological Diversity, nine major areas of the country with an area of 28,807 KM The square has been officially declared as a protected area and National park.
Mr. Qazizada also said that Afghanistan has developed Laws, Policies, Strategies and Management Plans to better regulate protected sanctuaries.
Mr. Qazizada, while stating the Activities, Progress, Achievements, Opportunities and challenges in the field of better regulation of Biological Diversity; Emphasize the Afghan Government's preparations to implement the obligations of the Convention on Biological Diversity.
It must be noted that these discussions will be very significant and decisive for the preparation of the plan for the next Decade, which is to be held at the 26Th World Summit of this Convention in China.
