Dr. Anwarul Haq Ahady, nominee and acting Minister of the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock, during his first working trip as Acting Agriculture minister to Herat exploited the "Chalistan and Gheizan" irrigation Canal located in Qala-e-Sharbat village of Karukh district of Herat province.

The Canal was built at a total cost of 12 Million Afghanis by the Ministry of Agriculture's Second National Priority Support Program, with a length of 2,273 KM and irrigates more than 1,100 Acres of Agricultural land.

The Canal plays a fruitful role in reducing water waste by 20% and increasing Crop Yields by 20% for about 500 farming families.

At the same time, the Ministry of Agriculture, in addition to constructing the Ghazian Canal in Karukh district, has implemented thirteen irrigation networks in Injil, Guzara, Karkh and Zandijan districts through the (SNaPP2) program at a total cost of 150 Million Afghanis during the fiscal Year 1399.

Two drip irrigation systems in Robat-e-Sangi district have also been constructed through the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Irrigation Project worth 1.5 Million Afghanis.

It should be noted that the construction of five irrigation networks in Ghorian, Zandijan and Karkh districts at a cost of 94 Million Afghanis through the "SNaPP2" program and the implementation of the two-drain building project, 10 karez and nine drip irrigation systems through the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations The FAO, worth a total of 110 Million Afghanis, is another work of the Ministry of Agriculture in the irrigation sector in Herat province.
