Mr. Durrani addressing the Technical Board of Livestock Services said that the growth of the livestock sector plays an important role in economic self-sufficiency and food security in the country.

Agriculture minister added that Afghanistan is approaching self-sufficiency in the poultry production sector and produces about eighty to eighty-five percent of the poultry meat needed domestically. He said the imports of old poultry meat from Pakistan have been stopped.

Nasir Ahmad Durrani also informed about the design and development of a strategy to prevent drought-related animal deaths and increase of animal products.
