President Ghani: In a Very Short Time, We Turned Pine Nuts into a Pride
Afghan President Ashraf Ghani attended Pine Nuts Day at Presidential Palace (ARG) this afternoon.
Addressing the event president Ghani said that the country’s treasures were no longer hidden and Afghanistan was ready and able to export the treasure abroad.
The president added that in a very short time, we were able to turn a hidden wealth into a pride.
The President called regional market as the biggest one for Afghanistan, saying it was needed to study the region.
He said there were no lack of market and it was needed for Afghans to open their minds and increase exports.
“Pomegranate of Kandahar and Kapisa provinces are known worldwide. I would like to see government and private sector partnership in exporting of Pomegranate to abroad,” Ghani added.
The President also asked the Afghan embassies abroad to work for marketing of the Afghan products, adding the number of diplomats would be decreased in those embassies that fail to do so.
At the ceremony, the Ministers of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock, Industry and Commerce, the First Vice-President of the Chambers of Commerce and Industries, also delivered their speeches, thanking president Ghani for his attention to the country’s pine nuts and other agricultural products.
They said Afghan businessmen benefited 20 million USD last year through the export of pine nuts and the government supports other agricultural and export items with the participation of the private sector.
