With the glorious spring weather and flower shopping, when you go out to the shops that sell flowers and seedlings in Kabul’s Joe Sher area, you will be given a lot of spring words and hopeful greening flavors.

These days parts of Kabul’s Joe Sher area is heavily filled with flowers and seedlings.

In these shops, a variety of seedlings and flowers can be seen and cluster of people come to buy trees and flowers.

Bismillah Haji Zada is one of the shopkeepers who has come from Dako village of Kabul’s Mir Bachakot district. He has over 150 different varieties of flowers and seedlings in his shop. His shop is green and full of assortment.

Bismillah says, “I sell about 10,000-20,000 AFN worth flowers and seedlings every day. There are 120 types of flowers and plants in my shop, adding I myself have grown the flowers and plants. Rose, Milk Weed, Fuchsia, and Dianthus are the most famous flowers I sell.”

Mr. Haji Zada message to the citizens is, “Seedling planting and its protection is our joint responsibility.”

The national economy, the clean air and the country's juicy atmosphere, are also dependent on the planting and maintenance of more seedlings. Haji Zada says to all his compatriots: “Please be diligent in protecting and preserving trees and flowers.”

He also speaks of the people's interest in the maintenance, preservation of seedlings and flowers: “I have been working in flowering profession for over 22 years, the interest of the people has increased. From poor to rich, they come to us to buy flowers and seedlings. We are also grateful to the government for providing us a place to build shops and sell our seedlings.”

The florist want the government to provide the ground for them to export their flowers outside the country as well. “Tajikistan has asked us to sell them flowers but the ground is not ready for us; we now only sell flowers to Balkh, Ghazni, Paktia, Logar, Khost, and Kunduz provinces.”

Nisar Ahmad is one of the other florist whom we interviewed. “We bring seedlings from Maidan Wardak province and northern zone of the country. Planting of Laghman’s seedlings has less effects in Kabul because the weather is warm in this province therefore it does not have compatibility with Kabul’s weather. The seedlings of Maidan Wardak and northern zone of the country has good results. I sell 10-30 trees on daily basis. Sycamore, peach, pomegranate, apple, and grape are the most famous trees in our shop.”

The Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock (MAIL), in collaboration with its business partners, provided more than 20 million seedlings and flowers last year to distribute this year.

These flowers and seedlings were given to various institutions, people and other authorities to be planted and preserved.

On the basis of medical information and the findings of environmentalists and scientists, nature is beautiful with trees and flowers and ugly and inconsistent without flowers and trees. The existence of forest and trees in the nature and life of man, causes beauty, happiness, greenery, comfort, prosperity, purity, and refreshment.

According to this information, trees are the pulses of the earth, and they are the life of humans and animals, and even some of the plants, because trees absorb toxic gases such as carbon dioxide and oxygen production, which is one of the most basic needs of human and animal life, makes human life and health sustainable. The lack of trees and destruction of forests, especially in this age of smoke and machine life, will cause the extinction of the human and animal generations.

Leaves and branches of trees provide an important part of animal nutrition and occasionally humans, and play a leading role in the production of human consumption meat.

The fruit of many trees is edible by human and animal, so it can be effective in human nutrition and vitamins. There are many recommendations on plant and vegetarian benefits in medical and even religious orders.

Trees have a great role in changing the climate and its equilibrium. Forest formation and its development not only have a significant impact on the climate process, but also on the promotion and distribution of birds and other domestic and wild animals, and ultimately the balance of the natural cycle.

The shadows and roots of the trees, in the conservation and growth of plants that cannot send their roots to absorb water to the depths of the earth, or tolerate direct exposure to sunlight, especially in the heat and summer season, or cannot stand against wind and heavy rains, have a great impact.

In autumn season, farmers, gardeners and florists can make use of fertilizer made from leaves of trees.

Due to the problems, which lack of trees create, Kabul residents seems to have found an understanding of the issue, and they seek to increase greenery and planting, preserving trees and flowers _ generating hopes for a clean and green environment.

Also, based on verified information, trees can play an important role in preventing soil erosion and the useful soil of the earth during flood events, and the Ministry of Agriculture has also been active in preventing soil erosion, reviving pastures, cutting trenches, seeding forest trees, and preserving and reviving medical plants farms.
