379 Onion and Potato warehouses exploited in Nangarhar
379 Onion and Potato warehouses in Nangarhar province were inaugurated and exploited in the presence of Hashmatullah Ghafoori, Deputy Minister of Irrigation and Natural Resources.
These warehouses have been built in the form of an Agricultural product management plan.
Hashmatullah Ghafoori, Deputy Minister of Irrigation and Natural Resources of the Ministry of Agriculture, who officially inaugurated the warehouses during his visit to Nangarhar, said " about 12,000 projects are being implemented across the country under the Crop Management Plan, Nangarhar is the first province, which has fully completed the project, the total cost of these projects are 139 Million Afghanis".
Mr.Ghafoori thanked the influential people and Development councils for their cooperation in implementing these projects, and said "The program will be implemented to support farmers and gardeners next year as well.
Meanwhile, Zia-ul-Haq Amarkhail, the governor of Nangarhar province, thanked the Ministry of Agriculture for building the infrastructure for farmers and said "that suitable warehouse farmers had been built in 14 districts of Nangarhar province.
Mr. Amarkhail reminded, that last year, Onion crops went to the neighboring country and re-entered Afghanistan when there was a shortage in the Afghan market.
Mr Amarkhail said "the problem had been resolved this year and that farmers themselves would keep their produce until the market needed it more.
The Governor of Nangarhar added, that Onion warehouses were built in places where onion production was higher and the need for maintenance was high.
The Crop management plan includes the construction of thousands of Onion and Potato warehouses, Raisins houses, zero energy cold storage of (SAARC) model for storing Apples and Pomegranates and distribution of Fruit drying machines, which started in 1399 and it's first phase will be completed soon.
