Achievements of Maidan Wardak Directorate of Agriculture in fiscal year 1399

Maidan Wardak Directorate of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock says that they have designed and implemented instrumental programs in center and districts of the province to support the farmers of the province in the fiscal 1399.
Walid Ahmad Tasal, the director of agriculture of Maidan Wardak said, “Five theatrical farms worth a total of 640,000 Afghanis have been built for the growth of saffron this year, alongside 3,815,999 AFN has been spent for building saffron farms for the farmers, distribution of vegetable seeds as well as the establishment of centers for the peasant.”
Mr. Tasl said that in order to prevent the destruction of agricultural lands in Jalriz district of the province, a protective wall has been built at a cost of 5,971,500 AFN, which will protect agricultural lands in this district from the effects of monsoon floods.
Officials of Maidan Wardak Agriculture Directorate further added that extensive work has been done in horticulture sector and this year 500 hectares of dense and semi-dense apple orchards have been built at a cost of 10 million and 44 thousand AFN.
The director of Maidan Wardak Agriculture said that construction of a milk collection center worth four million Afghanis has begun this year. According to him, the construction of this center will be completed soon. He added, "In 1399, 150 potato warehouses, 71 zero-energy apple cold storages were built in the province at a total cost of 248 million 328 thousand 870 AFN. "Also, 30 onion warehouses have been built."
Maidan Wardak directorate of Agriculture has spent 1,152,771 Afghanis during health campaigns in order to prevent the spread of Congo fever and brucellosis in animals.
The directorate has also spent 640,000 Afghanis to fight diseases and pests.
Walid Ahmad Tasl said 326 tons of improved wheat worth 5,789,760 Afghanis are ready to be distributed to the farmers of the province. Meanwhile, process of distributing agricultural packages and building 63 slaughterhouses at a cost of 20 million and 960 thousand Afghanis is underway in all districts of the province this year.
