500 Tons-Capacity Cold Storage Facility Utilizes in Herat

Nasir Ahmad Durrani, minister of agriculture, irrigation, and livestock (MAIL), in his trip to Herat province utilized a standard cold storage facility with the capacity of 500 tons in the province.
The storage facility has been built by the Ministry of Agriculture in cooperation with the Commercial Horticulture and Agricultural Marketing Program (CHAMP), and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) for a domestic investor.
In the inauguration of the cold storage facility, Minister Durrani thanked ‘Zeyarat Jai’ company for its subsidy assistance in the construction of the facility. Mr. Durrani also thanked CHAMP for its cooperation in the construction of the facility.
“I urge all businessmen in the country to step up to participate in national processes and to do essential work not only for themselves but for all the people of the country,” Durrani said.
Meanwhile Abdullah Wahabzada, deputy director of Zeyarat Jai Company, whose owner of the facility, said, “The cold storage facility has lots of importance for storing fresh and dried fruits. We can use the facility for storage of grapes and other fruits. We thank the Ministry of Agriculture for its cooperation in the construction of the factory.”
The construction of the facility has cost a total of 300,000 USD, 50 percent of which is paid by the investor company and the remaining 50 percent by the Ministry of Agriculture, in cooperation with CHAMP.
It should be said that the preliminary work for the construction of 12 cold storage facilities with the capacity of 500 tons has been finalized by the Ministry of Agriculture in a number of provinces, the practical work of which will begin by the Operation Office of Presidential Palace soon.
