Minister of Agriculture Discuss Horticultural and Livestock Development Plans with Governor and representatives of Zabul province

Dr. Anwarul Haq Ahadi, minister of agriculture, irrigation and livestock, met with Governor Ahmad Gul Rasooli, Abdul Qadir Qalatwal, Zahra Tokhi, and Zabul representatives in the Wolesi Jirga, and Atajan Haqubian, chairman of provincial council, to discuss horticulture and livestock development plans.
The governor and representatives of the people of Zabul said that Zabul was an agricultural province and that a large part of residents of this province are engaged in horticulture, especially in production of grapes, pomegranates, figs and almonds. They called for the conversion of grapes into raisins and the processing of almonds in horticultural sector, and said that even though livestock had improved in the province, Zabul was still a less advanced province. The governor and representatives of Zabul called for attention to the livestock sector, medicinal plants, especially cumin, and said that Zabul cumin has good quality and should be marketed for this good result.
During the meeting, the governor and the representatives, in addition to talking about the existing capacity for horticulture and livestock growth in Zabul, presented their proposals for the implementation of horticulture and livestock development programs and called for the establishment of representative offices for projects of MAIL in the province.
Dr. Anwarul Haq Ahadi, minister of agriculture, irrigation and livestock, after hearing the demands of Zabulians, said that balanced development, especially in provinces with agricultural and livestock capacity, is essential for the ministry of agriculture MAIL. Mr. Ahadi said that we are trying to implement more projects, we also have a plan to distribute improved eggs, and we encourage private sector investment. Regarding the development of almond yields and income, He further said that National Almond Plan has been prepared and Zabul is included in it.
The Minister of Agriculture added that attention has been paid to pomegranates and grapes by building raisin houses and warehouses, and we are attempting to increase this attention in Zabul as well.
