Rehabilitation and reconstruction of 435 sub- irrigation canals are 42% complete

According to the program of the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock, rehabilitation and reconstruction of 435 second and third degree sub- irrigation canals for the fiscal year 1399 had planned that Rehabilitation and reconstruction of these 435 sub- irrigation canals are 42% completed. These canals are located in Kunduz, Takhar, Badakhshan, Nangarhar and Jawzjan provinces. The Ministry of Agriculture's fiscal year report shows that 35% works of the 99 sub-canals left over from last year and the rehabilitation of another 336 canals have started this year. The Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock, according to its plan for the fiscal year 1399, had predicted 40% progress in the rehabilitation of these canals in the first half of the current fiscal year, but the work of these canals has progressed to 42%. Rehabilitation and reconstruction of these irrigation canals includes the annual irrigation plan of 50,000 hectares of land through rehabilitation, reconstruction and strengthening of irrigation systems in the country. Construction of these canals increase farmers’ production capacity as well as increase their income
