The Minister of Agriculture Discusses the Development of Agriculture and Natural Resources with Representatives of Badghis

Dr. Anwarul Haq Ahadi, minister of agriculture, irrigation and livestock, met with representatives of Badghis people in Wolesi Jirga in his office. The meeting was attended by Ziauddin Akazi, Abdul Basir Osmani, Amir Shah Nayebzadah and Professor Faridah Biguzad, representatives of the people of Badghis in the Wolesi Jirga, as well as project officials of (MAIL).
Representatives of the people of Badghis said at the meeting that Badghis is an agricultural province, yet has the most potential for growing pistachios. They called for increased construction of pistachio orchards and establishment of pistachio processing centers in the province.
Balanced implementation of agricultural projects in all districts was another request of Badghis lawyers. Representatives of the people of Badghis said that they are ready to cooperate in implementation of agricultural projects and want these projects to be implemented in a way that respects social justice.
During this meeting, the officials of the projects of MAIL informed about the activities of 1399 and the programs of 1400 in Badghis province.
Project officials of the ministry of agriculture said that in fiscal year 1399, they had implemented the distribution of improved seeds and a number of other projects in the areas of creating greenhouses.
In 1399, MAIL has built 254 warehouses, five apple cold storages, 95 onion warehouses and 40 raisin houses in total areas of Badghis province.
The construction of more than 7,000 acres of pistachio orchards by national horticulture and livestock project (NHLP) is another function of the ministry of agriculture in mentioned province.
Also in the 1400th fiscal year, MAIL will build 120 commercial greenhouses and 800 acres of commercial property in four districts of Badghis through agriculture and rural development project (CBARD).
In 1400, MAIL also rehabilitated 7,000 acres of pistachio forests through general directorate of natural resources. At the same time, in the field of natural resources and grazing, there is work to be done.
At the end of the meeting, Mr. Ahady, said that our struggle is to implement more projects. we try and pave the way for both donors and projects to invest in agricultural sector and grow these sectors.
