Three-year achievement of an alternative Livelihood Project in the three Northern province: Distribution of 4,690 Tons of Oilseed seeds to Farmers

The ACTED's Alternative Project, funded by »UNODC« has trained 4,690 Farmers in Oilseeds and fertilizers over the past three years in Balkh, Jawzjan and Samangan provinces in coordination with the provincial Agriculture directorates and also developed training programs.
The project has also established 13 Social associations of Oilseeds producers to improve and strengthen the market and the sustainability of their production.
Meanwhile, the preparation and installation of 13 Oil processing Machines from Oilseeds for these associations is another task of this project for tulip Growers.
Other services of this project for the associations of tiller plants in the three Northern provinces are the distribution of 7,200 empty Three and Five-Liter bottles for the purpose of packing the Oil produced by them.
In the field of women's advocacy, in order to diversify Livelihoods, the distribution of Poultry Packages to 400 women, 30 Chickens to each woman, and Chicken seeds is another work of the ACTED alternative project.
The women also took part in Capacity-Building Training programs launched by the project.
In the field of irrigation, construction and consolidation of 911 Meters of irrigation Canal in Jawzjan province in order to prevent water waste and irrigation are among the works of this project.
In the field of Greenhouses promotion, the construction of 16 Greenhouses, in which practical training programs for Vegetable production have been launched for 400 women is another task of this project.
Also in Jawzjan province, in the Horticulture sector, the project has revived 100 Acres of Vineyards.
These activities, in coordination with the Agriculture Departments of the three provinces of Jawzjan, Samangan and Balkh, have been carried out by the Oktid Institute through the Alternative project of this Institute.
The aim of this project is to reduce the production and consumption of Narcotics by strengthening and diversifying legal livelihood options, as well as improving the economic situation of its beneficiaries through the production of sustainable Agricultural Farms and home farms in Balkh, Jawzjan and Samangan provinces.
The project has worked with farmers to improve the economic situation of the project beneficiaries through the production of sustainable Agricultural Farms outside agricultural farms in Balkh, Jawzjan and Samangan provinces to produce quality and organic Agricultural products.
These services are provided by improving the value chain and increasing the value of Oilseeds, establishing home Poultry farms, Constructing and consolidating irrigation Canals, Rehabilitating Vineyards, and using out-of-season Vegetable production techniques in Greenhouses.
The project has also worked with farmers to improve the value of their products by providing packaged supplies, holding marketing meetings and facilitating participation in Agricultural fairs.
