70 paddy farmers trained in Herat

Herat Irrigation and Livestock Directorate, through its Second National Priority Program2 (SNaPP2), trained 70 paddy farmers who distributed modified seeds earlier this year to create display parts in Injil, Guzara and Pashtun Zarghun districts. In this training program, various topics including planting, harvesting and processing of paddy were taught to the participants. Herat is the fifth largest producer of rice after Kunduz, Takhar, Baghlan and Nangarhar provinces. Last year, rice production in the province reached 27,515 metric tons.
