Emergency Agriculture and Food Safety Project Inaugurated

The Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock has inaugurated a $ 100 Million emergency Agriculture and Food Security project in 34 provinces.
The project inaugurated by Dr. Anwarul Haq Ahady, Acting and nominee Minister of Agriculture.
This project is funded by the World Bank and the Afghanistan Reconstruction Fund and is a two-year project that will be completed in August 2022.
The total Budget for the project is 100 Million $, of which $ 45 Million is funded by the Afghanistan Reconstruction Fund (ARTF) and another $ 55 Million is funded by the World Bank.
The Ministry of Agriculture through this project in order to rehabilitate and rehabilitate irrigation Canals, Barns, production, preparation and distribution of reformed eggs for Farmers, distribution of Agricultural equipment for Farmers, Technical cooperation and capacity building of Flour Mills Association, construction of Raisin farms, Potato and Onion storage warehouses will be the main concentration.
With the implementation of the Agricultural Emergency project in the next two years, 180 irrigation Canals are to be rehabilitated and rehabilitated, and a total of more than 85,000 Hectares of land will be cultivated through drainage management and canal rehabilitation.
Also, through this project, over two years, more than 30,000 Metric Tons of reformed eggs will be distributed to 600,000 Farmers in 34 provinces.
With the distribution of 30,000 Tons of improved seeds over the next two years, 15% of the Wheat harvest will increase in the areas covered by the project.
Also, through this project, a total of more than 700,000 people, including 22,000 women farmers, will benefit directly. In addition, more than 100 small Zero-energy Storage facilities for Apples, Onions, Potatoes and Raisins are to be built in six zones over the next two years.
In addition to the economic effectiveness of the Agriculture and Food Safety Emergency Project, about 5 Million working days are to be generated over the next two Years.
