Coordination and Contribution is strengthened between MAIL and National Procurement Office

Hashmatullah Ghafouri, deputy minister for irrigation and natural resources, and Shirshah Amiri, deputy minister of agriculture and livestock of the Ministry of Agriculture, met with Weiss Rahimi, Professional deputy of national procurement office, to strengthen coordination and expand contribution between the two departments.
The meeting, which was also attended by a number of directors of the Ministry of Agriculture and the National Procurement Office, discussed the capacity building of unions and companies involved in the production and processing of agricultural and livestock products, as well as establishment of a better mechanism to go over the products of these companies and unions.
Weiss Rahimi, Professional Deputy of National Procurement Department, expressed his satisfaction with the Ministry of Agriculture for its coordination and cooperation with National Procurement and stressed the need to speed up the process. Mr. Rahimi asked MAIL to send the required figures in accordance with the request of National Procurement Department in their respective departments in order to speed up this process.
Hashmatullah Ghafouri, said, Based on the direction of the president of Afghanistan (POA) domestic products are prioritized in the contract of National Procurement.
And we drafted a law that would allow farmers and ranchers to form district unions at the village level, associations and district unions at the district level, and then the provincial unions form a national union, which includes the vegetables, legumes, cereals, fruits and dairy sectors.
Mr. Ghafouri added that by using these unions, the peasants can be supported and the real production of the peasants can be sold through these unions, which are provided by the National Procurement Office.
He also announced the establishment of a union of women, farmers and professionals, and called on National Procurement Department to give priority to women in national contracts related to agricultural products.
Also, Shirshah Amiri, mentioned the effective cooperation of the Ministry of Agriculture with National Procurement Office and said that the Ministry of Agriculture cooperates with National Procurement Office and this cooperation will be increased and accelerated by hiring new directors at MAIL.
