Commencement of exploitation of 300 onion warehouses in Balkh province

Dr. Anwarul Haq Ahadi, minister of agriculture, irrigation and livestock, during his visit to Balkh province, exploited 300 onion warehouses built by the Agricultural Products Management Project by inaugurating several onion warehouses in Dehdadi district.
These onion warehouses have been built in 11 districts of Balkh province at a total cost of 147 million 701 thousand 400 AFN.
The Deputy Governor, the Chairman of the Provincial Council and a number of other local officials of Balkh Province and the peasants were accompanying Mr. Ahady in this ceremony.
Ghulam Farooq Khaplwak, deputy governor of finance and administration of Balkh, emphasized on investing in horticulture, fish farming and irrigation projects, and called for the continuation of agricultural management project in Balkh province.
Mohammad Afzal Hadid, chairman of Balkh provincial council, also announced his support for implementation of agricultural projects in the province, calling for an increase in distribution of improved seeds and chemical fertilizers to farmers in Balkh province, and said, “More farmers are active in the province and agriculture should be mechanized and lending should be increased.”
He also wanted that more attention must be paid to livestock next year and waters of Amu Darya must be used in agriculture in Balkh.
The Minister of Agriculture, Anwarul Haq Ahadi, said that the Ministry of Agriculture, not only in Balkh, but also in the country, this year, worth 6.8 billion AFN, launched two agricultural product management projects, including thousands of buildings (raisin, onion and potato storage and zero energy cold storage) apples and pomegranates and fruit and vegetable drying machines.
Ahady said that 603 Agricultural product management projects have been implemented in Balkh this year.
It should be noted that the total budget of the Ministry of Agriculture MAIL for Balkh province this year was 683 million AFN.Mr. Ahadi said that next year, while the crop management project in Balkh continues, in the irrigation and livestock sectors, self-sufficiency in the dairy sector and horticulture will be considered through various projects to increase investment and increase the effectiveness of work.
