The Minister of Agriculture Meets with General Director of National Administration of Water Affairs for further coordination

Dr. Anwarul Haq Ahady, minister of agriculture, irrigation and livestock, met with Khan Mohammad Takel, general director of national water administration in his office, to discuss further coordination in implementing of irrigation projects relevant to agriculture.
Mr. Ahady said that the highest amount of water consumption is in agricultural sector. He added that where irrigation programs are implemented by National Directorate of Water Affairs, all coordination between that directorate and the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock should be strengthened.
Hashmatullah Ghafouri, deputy minister of irrigation and natural resources of the Ministry of Agriculture (MAIL), said at the meeting that due to more and instrumental coordination between National Water Administration and MAIL, a memorandum of understanding needs to be signed between two institutions, so in implementing of irrigation projects their highest agricultural utility should be considered.
Afterwards, Ms. Mohammad Takel, director of the National Water Management Authority, said that after this, they would discuss the implementation of the projects in detail with the Ministry of Agriculture, as it is needed to coordinate with MAIL in its plans for related projects to get better by arranging water affairs on farm.
He also said that a joint technical delegation of National Water Administration and the Ministry of Agriculture would work on a draft memorandum aimed at further coordination so that the memorandum could be drafted and signed which will create more coordination.
