Badghis Saffron’s Yields doubles

The Badghis Directorate of Agriculture said that saffron production has doubled this year in the province.
Based on the statistics of the mentioned directorate, the area under saffron cultivation was 53 acres last year, from which 57 kilograms of saffron were received. Yet, this solar year, as a result of launching promoter programs, motivating institutions and executing the development program of the above- mentioned directorate of agriculture, the area under saffron cultivation has increased to 79 acres of land, from which 107 kilograms of saffron were received.
The directorate further added that this year 13 demonstrations unite of saffron were built on more than four acres of land. For establishment of these dramatic shows, 50,000 kilograms of saffron onions were purchased and distributed to 13 farmers.
Cultivation and expansion of saffron in Badghis province started in 2015 and now the number of working saffron farmers in this province has reached to 275.
