Afghanistan’s Agricultural Products Exhibition Begins in Mumbai

A special exhibition of Afghanistan’s products titled, ‘Nature’s Best’ has begun in Mumbai city of India for two days. The event has been held with help of the Commercial Horticulture and Agricultural Marketing Program (CHAMP) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

The event has been attended by Deputy Minister of Agriculture for Administration and Finance Mohammad Tahir Ayub, Moqadasa Yourish, deputy minister of commerce and industries, and officials of Afghanistan Chambers of Commerce and Industries (ACCI).

Deputy Minister of Agriculture for Administration and Finance Mohammad Tahir Ayub while opening of the ceremony said, “Current Afghanistan is not the old Afghanistan, Afghanistan’s agriculture has grown, it produces organic fruits, air corridors have been created, and fruit exports have grown.”

Tahir AyubMr. Ayub thanked the colleagues for helping to hold the exhibition. He namely thanked the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the Commercial Horticulture and Agricultural Marketing Program (CHAMP) and India, adding that they were the working partners in holding exhibitions for introducing Afghan products to the world.

Moqadasa Yourish, deputy minister of commerce and industries, said, “With these opportunities, trade between Afghanistan and India can be strengthened, and the exhibition will be of great value for export, the shipping routes to the Afghan business will be unfolding, and about the exhibition I must say that parts of our exports is dry and fresh fruits and it is increasing year by year.”

Nasim Sharifi, Afghan General Consulate in India, said, “Afghanistan’s products are warmly welcomed and have plenty of buyers.”

Taher Wardak, policy director at ACCI said, “In the exhibition, 57 companies have showcased their products and the exhibition will be the starting point for increasing of Afghanistan’s exports.”

It is expected that the Afghan investors would get contracts worth 30 million USD with different Indian companies in the exhibition.

Dry and fresh fruit, medical plants, saffron, honey and other products have been put on display in this exhibition.
