Achievements of Badakhshan Agriculture Directorate in in fiscal year 1399

Badakhshan Agriculture, in the fiscal year 1399, had a budget of 275 million 265 thousand 71 AFN in agricultural sector. This budget has been spent in various sectors of agriculture, livestock, horticulture and irrigation in Jurm, Baharak, Kishm, Shohada, Tagab and Yaftal districts of the province in the form of various programs such as Panj Amu project, which includes 9 other programs.
Through this project, several second and third grade irrigation canals have been built, total cost of these projects was 71 million 641 thousand 861 AFN, which has been implemented completely.
Building drains and establishment of associations costed 28,234,753 AFN, and construction of demonstration wheat farm, corn and rice fields also costed 700,000 AFN.
Various agricultural and horticultural programs have been implemented through National Horticulture and Livestock Project or (NHLP) worth 6,512,880 AFN in different parts of Badakhshan province.
The crop management program, which includes 172 projects such as the construction of potato, onion and fresh fruit storage facilities, has also been implemented at a cost of 130 million AFN.
The National Livestock Development Project (NLDP) has implemented natural resources projects, at a cost of 2.8 million, which include the construction of Wakhan National Park, planting ration seeds, worth 8 million 956 thousand and 693 Afghanis.
Agricultural productivity programs such as saffron, soybean, pest and plant and animal diseases, demonstration shows and inspections of farms have been executed with worth more than 252,000 Afghanis.
At the same time, 538 metric tons of improved wheat seeds worth 23 million 896 thousand 884 AFN have been distributed to Badakhshan farmers.
However, the director of Badakhshan agriculture said, “The directorate plans to build home gardens for 400 families in four districts of the province next year, expand green areas and establish green areas in five districts and build five extension units, Also build five barns with a capacity of 250 metric tons and repair or build agricultural canals in four districts of the province.”
