25 Acres of Date Orchard will be built in Helmand

Helmand's Department of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock has recently promoted Palm in Lashkar Gah, Center and a number of districts in the province, and has technically fertilized and pruned branches, which has increased its Yields.
In addition, Helmand's Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock Department has given training, and educated farmers in date Orchards about growing and developing Date trees.
Zalmai Alko, Helmand's Director of Agriculture said, that 25 Acres of Date Orchards and Fruit collections would be built in the province this Year.
The land where the date Orchard is being built is being prepared, and the planting process will begin soon.
One of the programs of the Ministry of Agriculture is to cultivate and introduce palm trees to Gardeners and train them. In a number of other provinces, including Nangarhar, experimental Date Gardens have been established by the Ministry of Agriculture.
Dates grow in warm weather. Helmand, Farah, Kandahar, Laghman and Nangarhar provinces have suitable climates for growing Dates.
Growing new fruits, including dates, can have a significant impact on the growth of the peasant economy.
