Sustainable Economic Development and Employment Promotion Project (SEDEP)

Objective:“Employment and incomes have risen in the economic sectors promoted in northern Afghanistan”.

The project is supporting farmers, input suppliers, processors and traders.

Field of Actions:

  • Promotion of value chains
  • Small-scale rural infrastructure, such as irrigation and storage systems
  • Dialogue mechanisms to remove obstacles along the five value chains by means of various dialogue formats, such as a public-private dialogue (PPD)

The project focuses on the six north-eastern provinces and pursues a value chain approach for five agriculture-based products (Poultry products, Vegetables, Dairy products, Wheat and Almonds/Walnuts/Pistachios):

Badakhshan: Nuts, Dairy, Vegetables

Baghlan: Dairy, Poultry, Wheat, Vegetables

Balkh: Nuts, Dairy, Poultry, Wheat

Kunduz: Nuts, Dairy, Poultry, Wheat

Samangan: Nuts, Dairy, Vegetables

Takhar: Nuts, Dairy, Poultry, Wheat, Vegetables
