Status: Completed

Objective: To improve agriculture production and rural development in some districts of Kapisa Province and Surobi District of Kabul Province.

Progress/ Achievements
a. 1900 households received theoretical and practical beekeeping training and 3800 bee hives, 3800 empty boxes, 1900 smokers, 1900 brushes, 3800 feeders, 1900 hive tools, 1900 veils, 76000 sheets of wax and 95 honey extractors distributed to them.

b. 23 MAIL staff received theoretical and practical beekeeping training and 160 bee hives, 160 empty boxes, 8 smokers, 8 brushes, 160 feeders, 8 hive tools, 8 veils, 1600 sheets of wax and 8 honey extractors distributed to 8 MAIL offices (in Surobi, Nijrab, Tagab, Alasai, Kohistan-1, Kohistan-2, Kohband and Mahmood Raqi Districts).


c. 1960 households received theoretical and practical poultry training and 1960 households’ received 29400
hens, 3920 cocks, 1960 feeders, 1960 drinkers, and 98,000 kg feed and 98 incubators with tools distributed.

d. 22 MAIL staff received theoretical and practical poultry training and 2 MAIL offices in Surobi and Nijrab
Districts distributed 120 hens, 16 cocks, 8 feeders, 8 drinkers and 400 kg feed and 2 incubator with tools

e. 20777 farmers received 1,040 MT seed, 1,040 MT DAP and 520 MT Urea

f. 145 farmers used seed multiplication program on 66 hectares with10 MT seed, 10 MT DAP & 10 MT urea

g. 362 small development projects implemented in 362 villages from 20% of the seed and fertilizer collected during seed and fertilizer distribution 2009 in the target areas.

h. 74 fruit nurseries established with the farmers who received seed, DAP, urea, barb wire, pruners, budding knife and technical advice. Also 176186 saplings budded in 46 nurseries in Surobi, Nijrab and Tagab districts.

i. 2500 non-fruit saplings and shrubs distributed to 49 offices, mosques and schools in Surobi District.

j. 168 fruit orchards established in Surobi and Nijrab Districts

k. 2 MAIL offices rehabilitated in Surobi and Nijrab Districts.

l. Construction of 4 fish farms 100% completed in Surobi and Nijrab Districts. Necessary number of fish fingerling and feed transferred and submitted to the farm owners

m. 8 MAIL offices equipped with office furniture, logistic and office equipment, plant protection and Artificial insemination tools.
n. 40 MAIL staff trained on social organization and gender

o. 7 plots of saffron established in Surobi and Tagab Districts.

a. 1460 households selected for beekeeping project and out of that 740 persons received theoretical and practical beekeeping training for two days

b. 9 beekeeping associations established
c. 1700 households selected for poultry project and out of that 760 persons received theoretical and practical poultry training for two days.

d. 1710 households selected for animal husbandry project and out of that 330 persons received theoretical and practical animal husbandry development training for two days

e. 522.4 MT seed and 522.4 MT DAP distributed to 10448 farmers

f. 147 small development projects implemented in 147 villages from 20% of the seed and fertilizer collected during seed and fertilizer distribution 2010 in the target areas

g. 47 farmers by the seed multiplication program started on 28.2 hectares with 4.7 MT seed and 4.7 MT DAP h. 20 fruit nurseries established with the farmers and they received seed, DAP, urea, and technical advises.

i. 500 non-fruit saplings and shrubs distributed to 40 offices, mosques and schools in Surobi district.

j. 20 MAIL staff trained on computer and English language in Nijrab district
