Import of Old Chickens to Helmand Prevented

Personnel of the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock (MAIL) in cooperation with the anti-criminal police prevented the import of old chickens from Pakistan to Helmand province.

Zalmai Aliko, provincial agriculture director, said that a car, smuggling old chickens from 
Pakistan to Helmand was arrested by MAIL personal in cooperation with anti-criminal police.

Mr. Aliko added that Helmand agriculture directorate is continually preventing the import of old chickens to the province and if face with such incident, will shred the imported chickens.

MAIL at December-end 2018 banned the import of old chickens in order to protect citizens’ health, poultry self-sufficiency, and improve animal health in the country.
